Cap height view angle calculator

This tool calculates the font size needed to ensure the font's cap height occupies a given part of the visual field at a given distance. It calculates the font size in points given the following values:

• Cap height ratio - the cap height of the font
• View angle - the view angle that should be covered by the cap height; 0.7 is used for EN 301 549 conformance; smaller angles can help determine readability at smaller sizes
• Viewing distance - the distance in millimetres expected between the display and viewer; the default value of 700 mm is appropriate for a desktop monitor.

To obtain the cap height for an online font, enter the font name from Google fonts. The tool will determine the cap height, input the value into the form above, perform the font size calculation using the other values in the form, and display the font at the calculated size.
